It’s My Heart New England is a non-profit organization created to advocate for and provide support to those affected by Acquired and Congenital Heart Defects (CHD). Through awareness, resources, and education, It’s My Heart creates alliances and networks among families, groups, hospitals, and the community.
Scholarship Details
- Award amount is $1,500
- At least four scholarships will be awarded
- Open to high school seniors and enrolled college students
- Recipients will be announced at the Annual Keep the Beat CHD Awareness Walk at the end of June
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be diagnosed with a Congenital Heart Defect (CHD), a recipient of a heart transplant, or a family member of someone diagnosed with CHD (sibling, child, parent, or close relative)
- Must be a resident of one of the New England states
- Must be a high school senior or an enrolled college student with a minimum 2.5 GPA
Application Process
Download and complete the scholarship application form and prepare the required documents:
- One letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor, teacher, employer, or unrelated adult
- An essay (1-2 pages) describing how CHD has affected your life and how you promote CHD awareness
- A copy of your transcript (can be mailed separately)
Mail the completed application and required documents and ensure all materials are postmarked by the posted deadline. This scholarship provides financial support to students affected by CHD, helping them pursue higher education while raising awareness about congenital heart conditions.
